About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Pensions Administrator to join a dynamic and collaborative team responsible for the day-to-day administration of trust-based company pension schemes. You’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality service across a variety of scheme types including defined benefit (DB), defined contribution (DC), career average revalued earnings (CARE), and hybrid arrangements.
Working within a scheme-based model, you’ll manage all aspects of pension administration for allocated clients, allowing you to build lasting relationships and provide tailored, efficient support to scheme members and trustees.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform pensions administration tasks in line with best practice procedures and regulatory requirements
• Support annual scheme projects such as benefit statements, renewals, life assurance and pension increases
• Produce and maintain scheme-specific documentation and procedural updates
• Check work completed by junior team members and mentor them informally
• Carry out manual and automated benefit calculations
• Serve as a first point of contact for client and member queries, offering excellent customer service
• Assist with ad-hoc projects such as bulk mailings or data exercises
• Collaborate closely with internal departments and third-party providers to ensure seamless service delivery
• Ensure accurate time recording and contribute to team utilisation targets
About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate solid experience in pension administration, with a strong understanding of defined benefit schemes and relevant legislation.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• At least 2 years’ experience in DB pensions administration (all applications considered individually)
• Knowledge of pensions legislation, including the Pensions and Finance Acts
• Experience in benefit calculations (leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers, etc.)
• Competence in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong numeracy skills with academic or professional evidence of ability
• A team player with a proactive, solution-focused approach
Qualifications:
• A-Level, Degree, or equivalent standard
• GCSE Maths and English (Grade C or above or equivalent)
Desirable:
• Experience mentoring junior colleagues
• Third-party administration background preferred, though strong in-house experience is welcome
• Willingness to work towards a pensions qualification such as CPC, QPA, DPC, RPC or APMI
