The BT Pension Scheme (BTPS) is the second largest defined benefits pension Scheme in the UK with total assets of c. £50bn as of June 2017, paying over £2bn in pension payments per year. The Scheme closed to new members in 2001 but remains responsible for securing the long-term financial well-being of approximately 300,000 current and future pensioners.
Based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, the pension scheme administration arm of BTPS (BTPSA) currently employs c. 70 individuals across all functions and manages the membership experience.
The Chesterfield Operation has recently transferred from Accenture to BTPSA a subsidiary of BTPSM, the organisation responsible for ensuring the pension scheme is managed effectively on behalf of the trustees. This transfer of operations back into the direct control of BTPS represents a new chapter in the delivery of these services and an opportunity to make a real difference.
