We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced pension professional to join and lead our UK pension’s team as UK Pension & Benefits Administration Manager.

What being an UK Pension & Benefits Administration Manager at DS Smith will involve…

This is a leadership role, you will take responsibility for leading and managing a team of pension’s administrators and oversee the day to day administration and statutory requirements of the UK pension & benefits schemes. You will also act as Secretary to the DS Smith Group Pension Scheme Trustee (who operate the groups closed defined benefit scheme) and as secretary to the UK governance committee, which will oversee UK’s current DC pension & risk benefit arrangements.

What else will this role involve?

  • Oversight of the Shared Service Centre Pension Administration Team
  • Ensuring the Shared Service Centre Pension Administration Team are acting in line with agreed procedures
  • Ensuring procedures and policies are fit for purpose and updated with legislative changes
  • Acting as final point of contact (after Pension Administration Team Leader) for all complaints against either Shared Service Centre, Trustee or Company
  • Organising all Trustee and Investment Funding Committee Meetings
  • Ensuring the DS Smith Group Pension Scheme Trustee meets its statutory requirements
  • Acting as Secretary to the Trustee
  • Liaising with professional advisers to ensure agendas for meetings are appropriate.  Drafting papers where necessary for the Trustee Meetings.
  • Representing the Shared Service Centre at Trustee Meetings as and when required
  • Providing and presenting quarterly reports to Trustee on Shared Service Centre administration
  • Providing quarterly reports to Governance Committee on Shared Service Centre administration
  • Monitoring Saver Plus membership and reporting any areas for concern to Governance Committee
  • Ensuring DS Smith meets its statutory requirements for Automatic Enrolment
  • Provision of data on an annual basis to insurance broker for risk benefit renewal
  • Calculating re-charge requirements of insurance premium and liaising with finance to ensure correct payment

What we expect the candidate to have:

  • Qualified to degree level in a related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
  • Professional pensions or finance qualification (PMI, CII etc)
  • Technical understanding of DB and DC pensions
  • Working knowledge of UK risk benefits (Life Assurance, Income Protection and Private Medical) to include understanding of P11D and tax implications (desirable)
  • Experience of Profund and Propay – (desirable)
  • Proven experience of both Administration Management and Trustee Secretarial Duties
  • Trustee Secretarial experience for a £1bn DB pension scheme (desirable)
