We’re delighted to be partnering with the Government Actuary’s Department (GAD) on an exciting opportunity within their Pensions Administration Consulting team. This specialist team works with a wide range of public sector clients, supporting some of the UK’s largest pension schemes and helping to strengthen quality assurance and member outcomes.

GAD is a non-ministerial government department, providing actuarial advice, analysis, and modelling to support effective public sector decision-making and financial management. Their work plays a key role in addressing complex pensions and financial challenges across government.

This is a unique opportunity to work on high-profile public sector projects, developing your technical expertise while contributing to meaningful outcomes. As part of their continued growth, we’re now seeking a Pensions Technician to join the team, supporting clients and delivering impactful pensions work at scale.

About the role

This is a varied and technical role where you’ll support consultants and actuaries in delivering high-quality pensions administration advice and project work.

You’ll work closely with clients and stakeholders to help resolve complex challenges and improve pension scheme outcomes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support delivery of pensions advice to public service schemes and clients
  • Assist with pensions calculations, data analysis, and technical output
  • Contribute to projects such as data quality reviews, scheme transitions, and dashboards readiness
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver work efficiently and to deadlines
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with administrators and stakeholders
  • Help develop technical materials and client communications
  • Ensure all work meets professional standards, quality requirements, and timelines
  • Keep up to date with pensions legislation and communicate it clearly to clients

About you

We’re looking for a proactive pensions professional who can quickly add value within a collaborative, client-focused environment.

You will have:

  • Experience in pensions administration (ideally DB schemes)
  • Good understanding of occupational pensions (public sector knowledge desirable)
  • Experience carrying out pensions calculations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to build relationships
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of public service pension schemes
  • Industry qualification (e.g. PMI) or working towards
