My client, a leading consulting and TPA business are looking for an experienced Business Development Director to propel the company’s organic growth potential in the UK Pensions market. My clients target market is in-house administered and other trust based schemes, Bulk Purchase Annuity providers, Local Government Pension Schemes, Individual Annuities and the Collective Defined Contribution market. 


Key Responsibilities
  • Market engagement, building relationships with Third Party Evaluators, Independent Trustees, and other industry influencers. 
  • Creation of a sustainable pipeline of opportunities, identifying and qualifying opportunities
  • Active engagement with key market prospects and influencers, ensuring regular meetings are in place to scope requirements and aligning to   my clients proposition.
  • Taking ownership for RFI and RFP processes for assigned prospects or clients. 
  • Building personal and company brand reputation by attendance at key industry events such as conferences and exhibitions.
  • Utilising MI and other data insights to understand where potential prospects may lie, and taking a pro-active approach to create a sales pipeline    (e.g. spotting buying signals earlier than tenders). 
  • Manage the complete sales process, from lead generation through proposal stage to contract negotiation and signature. 
  • Collaborate with my clients  Marketing team to help with the identification of opportunities for thought leadership and other reputation enhancing engagements – e.g. key notes or chairing at industry events.  

Required Experience and Technical Knowledge
  • Knowledge of pensions market, particularly TPA 
  • Track record in Sales, Business Development or client management within pensions 
  • Knowledgeable around different pension scheme types – e.g. Trust Based DB vs BPA market 

 Required Skills and Behaviours
  •  Positive, can-do attitude
  •  Excellent communications and relationship building skills
  •  Ability to work and flourish in small, tight knit team but build relationships and form allegiances in the wider business
  •  Self-motivated and driven
  •  Ability to multi-task 
  •  Strong presentation skills

 Desirable:
  •  Strong network of relationships in pensions industry 
  •  Specific experience in pensions third party administration sales.
