Join one of the UK’s largest and most established pension funds. In this role, you’ll lead assurance activities by testing first-line controls and monitoring internal processes. You’ll help ensure compliance with AAF 01/20, the General Code of Practice, and regulatory standards set by The Pensions Regulator—reporting findings and driving improvements across Member Services.
County Durham/Hybrid working structure 3 days in the office per week
About the role
- Monitor and test first-line controls across pensions administration and manual processes, identifying improvements and helping shape the assurance framework.
- Ensure controls meet regulatory standards, including the General Code of Practice and guidance from The Pensions Regulator.
- Track and resolve issues identified during reviews.
- Support the annual AAF 01/20 reporting process, ensuring control objectives are clearly defined, tested, and evidenced across key functions.
- Help address findings from AAF testing, including repeat and high-priority issues.
- Work closely with Internal Audit, Risk, and Compliance teams to align assurance activities.
- Present findings to the Assurance Manager and support the development of internal controls.
- Assist with audit and compliance processes, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
About you
- Experience in control assurance, ideally within a pensions environment.
- Analytical, communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Be able to constructively challenge assumptions and established practices.
- Continually seek improvement and risk mitigation.
Desirable Qualifications
Professional qualifications or qualification through experience in the following disciplines would be relevant for the role: risk, audit and pensions administration.
