An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our in-house Technical team. Key aspects of the team’s work include assisting the Chief Governance Officer with managing certain external advisers to the Trustee and providing specialist pension services to the Trustee and the company in the areas of governance, compliance, legislation, funding and policy.
The team is also responsible for providing technical pensions expertise to the Trustee, employers, company and in-house Administration team. This includes working with actuarial, covenant and legal advisers in investigating technical pensions matters, proposing solutions, getting approvals and providing instructions on implementing changes.
The Technical Analyst role is responsible for providing comprehensive assistance to the Technical and Compliance Manager in effectively delivering the team’s work. The role focuses on both ‘business as usual’ work and project work.
About the role - Maintaining the Technical work log, keeping it up to date and ensuring documents and correspondence are logged correctly.
- Drafting responses for technical queries received on the team, and ensuring responses are checked by the Technical and Compliance Manager or the Chief Governance Officer.
- Providing internal specialist assistance for complex casework to the Administration team.
- Assisting company-wide projects by dealing with any technical queries.
- Assisting the Technical and Compliance Manager in completing all IDRP complaints received.
- Ensuring the annual requirements around the payment of levies, scheme returns, event reports and surveys are completed in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Considering consultation documents issued by the Government and draft responses where agreed by the Technical and Compliance Manager / Chief Governance Officer.
- Organising your own work in meeting agreed deadlines and service standards as well as team targets.
- Undertaking continuing personal development to meet the requirements of the role.
- Attending and actively participating in meetings as required, either internally or externally.
- Adopting a policy of continuous improvement within the team.
- Participating in ad hoc projects as required and undertaking any ad hoc tasks as may be required from time to time.
- Analysing new or changed pensions legislation and practice as requested by the Technical and Compliance Manager and reporting on its potential impact
- Drafting papers for the Trustee Board and sub-Committees as required, including a legislative update paper for the Board and a compliance paper for the Audit Committee.
- Maintaining Technical procedures, writing new procedures when necessary and regularly reviewing and updating existing procedures.
- Interpreting Trust Deed and Rules and other technical documents in order to fully understand the requirements in calculating all benefit types.
- Assisting the Technical and Compliance Manager with production of Technical training slides as required and delivering training sessions as appropriate.
- Ensuring that the required level of customer service and support is provided to all internal and external customers.
About you - Two years DB or DC pension administration experience
- Broad knowledge of pension legislation, regulations, and of The Pensions Regulator
- Experience of assessing and responding to non-routine work situations
- Great attention to detail – ability to produce high quality work free from errors and to maintain accurate/up to date records
