Hybrid working within this role enables a balance of 50 per cent of time split between the office and home over a 4-week period. Hybrid working arrangements can evolve subject to business requirements.
About the role
The purpose of this role is to translate complex and continually changing legislation, HMRC and Regulatory guidance into compliant procedures and processes and provide technical support and training to the pensions administration function to ensure that the function receives the highest level of support.
The jobholder will be responsible for the development of communications for the business leaders and their associated pensions arrangements, in particular communications around HMRC impacts on benefits
About you
You have a high level of technical expertise, with the ability to translate current and legislative pension change to key internal stakeholders, whilst using various coaching methods to develop the administration team’s knowledge.
Key Accountabilities
Identify technical and procedural training, development needs and skills gaps across the function, and ensure consistency of training. Work with the teams to identify training requirements and support them to develop training on new ways for working or system changes. Maintain a training plan and individual training records in order that priorities can be agreed and delivery monitored.
Take responsibility for improving workflow governance, standard documentation, process mapping and ensuring legislative compliance. Regularly reviewing the workflow facility of the pension administration system in conjunction with the Service Delivery Manager in order to optimise its added value to the Fund Office.
To develop, provide guidance on, to write, plan and deliver training:
- Across the administration function covering process and legislative change.
- On legislative change and its impact to the Trustees of the various TfL sponsored pension arrangements.
- Either face to face or through the use of technology.
- in line with requirements of the business making sure the teams are aware of the potential wider implications.
- Ensuring that training material is made available and delivered in an appropriate and timely manner and that any material produced is kept up to date with appropriate review cycles in place.
- Keep up to date with regulatory and market developments that affect pension administration in order to provide up to date.
- Regularly reviewing that calculations produced by the pension administration system are in accordance with the Trust Deed and Rules and current legislation to mitigate risks across TfL.
You will be able to evidence the following (essential criteria):
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of the Fund Office and the activities that it carries out.
- A working knowledge of legislation pertaining to UK pensions arrangements.
- Working knowledge of market developments and best practice in pensions administration
- Completion of or progress towards achieving the Pensions Management Institute qualification (desirable not a requirement).
Skills
- The ability to use coaching to develop an administration team.
- Assist with the communication design and development of member communications.
- Review online content/publications.
- The proficiency to deliver presentations on legislation change to an administration team.
- Virtual and face to face delivery of technical pension updates ensuring staff skill competencies are maintained.
Experience
- Proven ability in the delivery of pensions technical support and training.
- Experience of adapting approach to dealing with multi-tasks cases and projects often with urgent deadlines.
- Highly adaptable and resourceful to manage, either directly or through third parties, several concurrent tasks, ensuring that staff motivation and performance are maintained.
- Experience of working to strict deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practice of pensions administration, gained through significant experience in the field.
