At Barnett Waddingham, we are currently recruiting an experienced Team Leader - Pensions Systems, to join a growing team in our Birmingham office. This is a permanent and Hybrid role (2 days in the office).
Penstream is Barnett Waddingham's in-house application covering all aspects of pension administration. This includes day-to-day administration, pensioner payroll, and pension scheme accounting. Its features include: Member self-service and Client documentation access, record keeping, integrated benefit calculations, reporting and straight-through processing of investment instructions.
Responsibilities
- Takes overall responsibility for the team’s workload and monitors the team's performance against deadlines
- Takes responsibility for resource planning, ensures sufficient resource is available to complete the team’s deadlines and communicates any resource concerns to the Operations Manager
- Performs peer review of standard and complex work
- Recommends opportunities for the delivery of training relating to the pension systems
- Uses the MI available, working with the Operations Manager, to ensure that team members are performing effectively, identifies development needs and provides coaching and training
- Undertakes formal Personal Development Reviews in addition to 1-2-1 meetings
- Has an input into the recruitment process and conducts interview
- Monitors team productivity and quality using the work management system and provides regular feedback to team members
- Actively manages the team to adhere to specific targets and respond to the need for a rapid turnaround of work
- Ensures that any client concerns or complaints are processed correctly and raised with the appropriate Partner/Operations Manager and Governance immediatly
Experience/Qualification
- A minimum of GCSE Grade "5" or "C" in Mathematics and English
- An in-depth knowledge and high level of experience of pension and payroll administration (DB/DC/CARE/Cash balance, and Hybrid arrangements)
- Demonstrate an awareness of UK pension legislation, current/historic issues, and their application to administration, inclusive of PPF specific requirements
- A knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and in particular, Excel) to an advanced level
- Hold, or studying towards, a professional qualification (for example Certificate in Pensions Calculations, Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision) is desirable
- Hold a qualification in project management (PRINCE2 : Foundation or Practitioner) is desirable
