We are seeking a Senior Consultant - Analytics Consulting, within Employer Consulting to report to the Head of Management Decision Analytics. This is a permanent position and will be worked under our SmartWorking framework where you will share your time between the office and home. This role can be based at any office with flexible hybrid home-working.

Management Decision Analytics (MDA) is our name for this proposition. MDA is a strategic priority for our firm. We recently established this function to bring structure and focus to many of the activities we were already doing. We are building on our firm’s strengths, including over 1,400 colleagues, over 30 years of growth, and our robust governance and proven record to handle large volumes of personal data in our pensions business. We have the infrastructure to support our clients integrating, analysing and visualising their data within weeks. We understand compliance and risk, and we have the governance and regulated status, to do so securely.

What kind of work do we do?

We have worked with a wide variety of businesses, each with its own challenges, and the projects we have undertaken have been diverse. All have quickly and cost effectively delivered meaningful, previously unknown, insights from which tangible actions have been taken without large infrastructure builds or costs.

Most of our work currently fall into one of these categories:

  • Consulting projects for clients to create positive business outcomes by making sense of diverse, incomplete and ambiguous data
  • Transforming data science capabilities for clients, including creating best-practice processes, skills-transfer to teams, tools and infrastructure, cloud migration, and more
  • Ongoing services for clients to support or run part of their data science capabilities
  • Internal tools to make our firm more productive, profitable and a better place to work

Management decision analytics is a strategic priority for our firm with great growth prospects. You will become a subject matter expert on our technical capabilities, currently R with a curated set of packages deployed in Azure. You will be excited for the opportunity to develop your technical skills to become one of our recognised leaders and evangelists for the productivity, robustness and other benefits that using these tools can bring. You will actively develop our processes, templates and working practices that define “the Barnett Waddingham way” of efficiently delivering data projects. You will be enthusiastic about developing skills and capabilities for all colleagues across the firm. You will be involved in all stages of pre-sales, delivery and client relationship management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Lead technical implementation of client and internal projects
  • Significant contributor on broader multi-discipline projects
  • Designing and developing our frameworks, processes, templates and working practices for delivering analytical projects and data products
  • Provide internal leadership for analytics and data science across the firm
  • Motivating and managing team members on projects where teams are usually assembled from across the firm
  • Actively promoting the firm’s services to generate demand, including through thought-leadership pieces
  • Significantly contributing to proposals and other business development activities
  • Any other reasonable task as advised from time-to-time
  • Support, Implement and Maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance to Barnett Waddingham’s Information Security Policy
