Our client, one of the leading pensions consultancies, have a superb opportunity in one of three locations for a Principal Pensions Administrator.  This is an ideal role for a senior pensions administrator, looking to progress their career and to take the first step on the team management ladder.  In the role of Deputy to the team Leader, you will be responsible for supporting and deputising for the Team Leader, as well as leading on defined aspects of work on the team. You will have oversight of BAU/cyclical work and work with the Team Leader to ensure effective and efficient working practices in the team in relation to people and workflow management, client/member matters and technical processes and procedures.  On a day to day basis the role will include, although not be limited to, the following:

 •       Take a lead role on active daily management of workloads and workflows for the team and regularly keeps the Team Leader informed.   

•        In conjunction with the Team Leader ensure resources are available in the right place at the right time

•        Help to maintain a quarterly rolling schedule of TPA specific and personal objectives.

•        With the Team Leader, participate in annual pay/bonus review and calibration processes, specifically job matching and feedback on performance.

•        In the Team Leader’s absence act as the main contact and point of escalation for the team on clients, as agreed with the Team Leader. 

•        Responsible as the point of escalation on the team for general issues and enquiries and escalates these to the Team Leader if appropriate.

•        Attend Client / Trustee meetings to present on administration activities, as agreed on a client by client basis with the Team Leader. 

•        Makes recommendations for continuous improvements to client/member services. 

•        Identify non-standard events through work planning to ensure all work is charged.

•        Take the lead in more complex work as and when required. 

Successful candidates for this role will already have a good level experience of working in pensions operations with detailed and up to date knowledge of legislation relating to both DB and DC pension arrangements. You will have at least 4 years experience from within a TPA or in house operation, in addition you will have the following:

•        Educated to degree standard or equivalent (desirable)

•        GCSE / Scottish Standard (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade B or above, or relevant comparable experience. 

•        Progression with professional qualifications, such as Associate Membership to the Pension Management Institute, or relevant industry experience

•        Experience of team and workflow management and compliance with service quality standards.  

•        Proven experience in the provision of effective, efficient and proactive administration services to allocated clients. 

•        Strong working knowledge of current pension legislation and the impact this has on the practice (both DB and DC). 

•        Sound knowledge of Pension Administration operating systems

•        Good commercial and business awareness.
