Pension Manager and Scheme Secretary

What will you be doing?

A rare permanent opportunity has arisen to join us as our Pensions Manager/Scheme Secretary.  As a technical pension expert you will lead the management of our newly formed Corporate Trustee providing Scheme Secretary Services to the Anglian Water Pension Scheme (AWGPS). This will involve managing the Scheme and Corporate Trustee governance requirements as well as supporting the Chair of the Trustee in undertaking all duties in respect of the scheme and Corporate Trustee. You will also co-ordinate advisers and outsourced contractors to the pension scheme and lead the Pensions team in the provision of pension support for other AWG DB pension arrangements on behalf of their Trustee(s). This position can be based from home, although you will be required to travel frequently to London and Huntingdon.

In this varied and challenging role your duties will include preparing papers, attending meetings and producing minutes as well as recording actions and ensuring these are progressed for all Trustee meetings. You will also ensure all relevant pension risks are logged, understood and that relevant and appropriate mitigations plans are in place as well as preparing and managing the annual business plan for the Trustee.

You will provide support and advice to the Chair of the Trustee and Trustee Directors in respect of all matters pertaining to the AWG pension schemes as well as liaising with the Company (HR and Treasury) on specialist pensions matters e.g. pensions reviews, legislative and regulatory changes, and appointment of advisers and outsourced partners to the schemes.

What do you need?

With extensive pensions experience you will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and be APMI qualified. You will be fully familiar with scheme management for pension schemes with assets in excess of £1 billion combined with experience of managing outsourced providers

As an excellent communicator with planning and organisation skills, you will have the confidence to challenge others constructively and work collaboratively to achieve successful outcomes for all parties. This will involve working with senior Company representatives and Trustee Directors. You will also be proactive and able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
