The Wiltshire Pension Fund provides the pension administration for the local government pension scheme (LGPS) and the firefighters pension scheme. This involves the management of over £1.8 billion of assets and serves over 157 employer organisations providing pensions to more than 60,000 members.

About the role

You will be responsible for supporting the benefits manager in providing support and guidance to the pension officers and pension assistants with their case work. This involves calculating complex benefits of the scheme such as death benefits, transfer payments, ill health benefits and dealing with children’s pensions.

You will be resolving complex LGPS queries raised by the pension officers, you will bring forward ideas and solutions to resolve them. You will also look to process calculations associated with club and non club transfers in and out of the Fund for joining/leaving members.

About you

You will need expert pension knowledge, significant experience of using Altair IT system, along with the ability to use analytical skills to research complex cases and provide a recommended solution for action.

With sound inter-personal and communication skills, you will be able to provide training and support to team members, and explain complex pension legislation in an easy to understand way to both pension scheme members and employer bodies within the Fund.
