The Avon Pension Fund is a multi-employer fund administered by Bath & North East Somerset Council.  With a current value of approximately £4 billion, it is one of the largest local authority funds in the UK.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly-motivated individual to manage our Member Services team, with responsibility for managing the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Regulations on behalf of a large portfolio of employers.

The successful applicant will work proactively as part of the fund’s senior management team as a key contributor in the formulation and implementation of detailed service objectives and policies.

The Role

The role of the Member Services Manager is to manage the administration of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) Regulations on behalf of the 250+ participating employers and 100,000+ members as well as the Firefighters Pensions Schemes on behalf of Avon Fire & Rescue for 1,600+ members. 

Monitor and advice on the interpretation by the Member Services Team of the Regulations in calculating & paying scheme benefits.  Give guidance to members and employers and liaise with employers on Avon Pension Fund’s performance against targets set out in Service Level Agreements.

Implement changes in the Local Government Pension Regulations as they affect the Member Services Team, ensuring compliance with scheme regulations, HMRC rules and The Pension Regulator. Liaise with Heywood and the IT Support Manager to ensure necessary updates are applied to computer software to give effect to these Regulation changes.

To direct and control a comprehensive and technical pension payments service to include business transactions relating to reconciliation and control of payments.
