As a result of continued growth we are looking for an experienced pension administrator to join as Senior Project Administrator within our GMP team. The right candidate will have built up considerable experience within a third party environment dealing with DB pensions and have GMP experienc along with strong project management skills.

The Pension Administration Business was established in 1993.  Our core business is the provision of services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes DB, DC, CARE, cash balance – and we will do this as a stand-alone “admin-only” appointment or in conjunction with services provided by other Barnett Waddingham Practice Areas. The services are provided from all of our UK offices and include:

  • Benefit administration
  • Pensioner payroll
  • Administration consulting services
  • Scheme governance and trustee secretarial
  • Bespoke one off projects
  • Cash handling and preparing draft accounts
  • PPF assessment administration services
  • Data audits and data cleansing
  • Specialist roles (secondments, expert witness)
  • Support for trustees and in-house personnel

About the role

  • Read, research, and understand Scheme documentation and legislation and translate into a benefit specification
  • Project management and ensuring all activities meet agreed targets
  • Perform administration and payroll duties for new client implementations
  • Check work of others to ensure accuracy and compliance with Scheme rules, procedures, and legislation
  • Work independently and manage own work schedule according to business priorities
  • Maintain the in-house pension administration database, prepare manual and computer-generated benefit calculations and related correspondence
  • Build a calculation matrix for testing system calculations against expected output
  • Use strong data analysis skills
  • Prepare reports for trustees advising progress on projects and recommend any further actions required
  • Set up traditional or pooled banking arrangements for new clients
  • Ensure overseas pensioners are transferred to our preferred overseas bureau
  • Show a working knowledge of Project Management Tools and Principles such as PRINCE2
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Pensions Regulator’s record keeping requirements and maintain the in-house pension administration database to ensure data quality standards are met
  • Use external services, such as Shared Workspace to assist with GMP reconciliation work
  • Liaise with authorities including DWP, HMRC, the Pensions Regulator, and the Information CommissionerEnsure that any customer concerns or complaints are processed correctly and raised with appropriate reporting Partners immediately
  • Train and support colleagues following development and process improvements

Qualifications and Experience

A relevant degree, QPA or progress with PMI examinations is desirable

Project management skills and the PRINCE2 qualification would be an advantage or the desire to study towards it

Relevant experience within DB pensions and GMP work

As a minimum, GCSE or equivalent qualification at Grade 5/C in English and Maths
