A new, senior technical role has arisen with the in-house team of this large pension scheme, for a Pension Benefits Technician. You will take a leading role in all technical benefit aspects of the provision of high quality pension administration for the Scheme. Whilst the role is in-house, the scheme is actually administered by a Third Party Administrator, so you will work closely with them for a significant portion of your time.
The role holder will benefit from a high degree of autonomy degree of autonomy but will also be expected to work in conjunction with the other members of the Benefits Team. The structure of the Scheme is complex with a large membership which means that responsibilities are broad and challenging, but opportunities are very rewarding.
One a practical level you will be involved in managing all benefit change projects (such as pension increase and bonus implementation, GMP equalisation etc.), investigating and resolving all technical benefit queries received from the Trustees and the service providers, drafting reports on Trustee meetings, and peer reviewing work done by the Scheme Administrators.
The successful candidate will be an experienced pension professional with a strong knowledge of Defined Benefit schemes and previous experience of working within a technical pensions’ role. You will ideally be APMI qualified though this isn’t essential, but you must have robust and up to date knowledge of current pension legislation and market practice.
