How would you like to be the Pension Scheme Accountant, (official company job title Pensions Payments & Accounts Manager), for a large successful and respected High Street retailor with a large workforce and pension scheme to match.  In this role you will be responsible for the financial accounting and reporting service to the Head of Pensions and the Pensions team in relation to this company's pensions Scheme and their Supplementary Pension Plan.  Your reporting line is to the Head of Pensions, and within your role you will liaise with Trustees, Treasury, Payroll and external advisors such as auditors, actuaries, investment managers, and of course HMRC and the company bank.

You will deal with Annual Accounts, and production of annual statutory financial statements and provision of supporting information to the auditors.  You will deliver routine and ad hoc management information, prepare budget and forecasts for Pensions' cost centres within company UK accounts, complete quarterly and annual returns for the National Statistics Office and lead the team's submissions to the National Fraud Initiative and provide feedback on matches via the NFI portal.

You will also deal with all Financial Accounting, such as accounting for all receipts, benefits, investments and expenditure.  You will maintain cash-flow forecasts, arranging transfer of funds and liaising with Finance to ensure that receipts are scheduled for payment, ensure that accurate month-end figures are reflected for Pensions within company UK accounts and arrange quarterly reimbursements, arrange payments to suppliers, utilising the company's purchasing system where appropriate.  Dealing with Taxation matters including VAT returns, annual Self-Assessment and Event Reporting to HMRC as a matter of course, and regular reconciliations in respect of bank, investments and member benefits and timely resolution of matters arising.

Our client uses the accounting system (OpenAIR Accounts).
