The Pension Administration Practice Area provides services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes such as DB, DC, CARE and cash balance. The Projects team provides support to the on-going administration teams by carrying out administration project work on both a regular and ad-hoc basis.

We are looking for a Senior Project Administrator (Pension Administration - Projects) / Senior Project Consultant (Pensions) for our Birmingham office however we have 9 offices recruiting as well as the option of home working.

This is a Senior 'Level C' role within Barnett Waddingham. There are no direct reports in this role however you will have the opportunity to lead and take ownership on key projects and act as a mentor to other staff.


  • Be involved in the implementation of new clients and other projects such as buy-outs, end-game planning, GMP rectification, GMP equalisation, etc
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Pensions Regulator’s record keeping requirements and ensure the pension administration database is maintained so data quality standards are met. 
  • Check complex manual and computer generated benefit calculations and annual benefit statement calculations, as well as annual allowance calculations, SMPIs and Pension Savings statements and all related correspondence. 
  • Work with the Project Manager to create a Project Plan and proposed budget and take responsibility for all administration and payroll duties for new client implementations. 
  • Be required to provide updates at regular project meetings, including those held with clients and to read research, and understand Scheme documentation and legislation to produce a benefit specification. 
  • Be supporting the Pension Admin Projects team Leader in managing team workloads and ensuring that team members are performing effectively, developing junior members or deputising when required.


  • Extensive experience in Pension Administration with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word & Outlook. 
  • Ideally you will have a relevant qualification such as a degree, QPA or progress with PMI exams, or similar
  • You'll also ideally have knowledge of PRINCE 2 project methodologies and/or project management
  • Systems knowledge is an advantage
  • Experience of spreadsheets and being able to manipulate data is desired
