Due to continued business growth and an internal transfer, we are inviting applications for Trainee Pension Administrators to experienced Pension Administrators to join an established PPF team in Liverpool. This role reports into a Pension Administration Team Leader. This is a full-time permanent position and offers the option of home-working via WorkSmart. 


As a Pension Administrator PPF (Level F), you will: 
  • Prepare computer generated benefit calculations and related correspondence 
  • Maintain the member database; prepare computer generated benefit calculations and related correspondence
  • Have a basic understanding of how the PPF operates (PPF Level 1 Administrator only) 
  • Communicate with clients, their members and advisers 
  • Carry out cash handling functions for client pension and related arrangements, liaising with bank and investment managers as appropriate 
  • Process client pensioner payrolls, including calculation of net pay, arranging payments, liaison with tax offices and preparation of year end returns Liaise with authorities including DWP, HMRC, The Pensions Regulator and the Information Commissioner 
  • Read and understand documentation relating to each scheme, for example booklets 
  • Prepare manual calculations to develop an understanding of pensions 
  • Carry out member activities in line with agreed service levels 
  • Assist with project based work, as agreed 
  • Develop a clear understanding of how the PPF operates and the nature and type of compensation payments (specific for PPF Administration) 
  • Develop an understanding of the urgency involved in working on PPF schemes and the need for a rapid turnaround of work (specific for PPF Administration) 
  • Support, implement and maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance to Barnett Waddingham’s Information Security Policy, and other Barnett Waddingham accreditations and awards

We offer extensive support and full, ongoing training across pensions administration.

  • An aptitude for Maths is desired and attention to detail is required 
  • Educated to Maths and English GCSE level or equivalent 
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Excel, Word and Outlook as you will be working with spreadsheets, documents and producing calculations 
  • A willingness to make progress towards further professional qualifications is desirable. We offer full support, training and funding. 
  • Experience of working in an office within a team environment is beneficial 
  • Relevant Financial Services experience or a background in DC or DB pension administration would be an advantage however is not essential)
