At Barnett Waddingham, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Pensions Systems Analyst to join a growing team in our Liverpool or Leeds offices (hybrid working).

Penstream iis Barnett Waddingham's in-house application covering all aspects of pension administration. This includes day-to-day administration, pensioner payroll, and pension scheme accounting. Its features include: Member self-service and Client documentation access, record keeping, integrated benefit calculations, reporting and straight-through processing of investment instructions. Penstream is fully integrated with our work management system, known as Taskstream, and our electronic document management system. Penstream is used to generate scheme and member communications utilising system and calculation data. 

Responsibilities

  • Provides advanced level day-to-day frontline support of the pension systems
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of the pension systems
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of simple and standard benefit structures; demonstrates an intermediate understanding of complex benefit structures
  • Configures the pension systems to provide automation for schemes with simple and standard benefit structures; participates in the same for schemes with a complex benefit structure
  • Provides Pension Systems and advice, as a Subject Matter Expert, to standard and complex project work
  • Prepares simple, standard, and complex bulk data to enable, and perform, its upload to the pension systems
  • Produces reports and provides analysis of standard pension system data; participates in the same for complex pension system data
  • Prepares simple and standard bulk data to enable, and perform, its upload to the pension systems
  • Updates and exports simple and standard data from the pension systems for the transfer of a client service to another provider; participates in the same for complex data
  • Assists in the production of budgets for non-standard work 
  • Researches and develops solutions, tests new development/procedures
  • Performs peer review of standard and complex work and ensures own work is peer reviewed  
  • Takes a lead role in the design and delivery of intermediate and advanced training relating to the pension systems
  • Reads and understands scheme governance documentation in order to automate processes and explains calculation reasoning
  • Supports junior members of the team in their personal development and improves their knowledge and understanding of pension systems and benefit structures
  • Takes a lead role in presentations to potential new clients, explains the implementation process and demonstrates the pension systems

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • A minimum of GCSE Grade “5” or “C” in Mathematics and English
  • An in-depth knowledge and high experience experience of pension and payroll administration (DB/DC/CARE/Cash balance, and Hybrid arrangements)
  • A knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and in particular, Excel) to an intermediate level
  • Demonstrate an awareness of UK pension legislation, current/historic issues, and their application to administration, inclusive of PPF specific requirements
DESIRABLE
  • A relevant degree (for example, Mathematics)
  • Hold, or studying towards, a professional qualification (for example, Certificate in Pensions Calculations, Advanced Diploma in Retirement Provision)
  • Hold a qualification in project management (PRINCE2 : Foundation or Practitioner)
